"The new muon facility at FNAL provided not only the ability to perform a detailed measurement of g-2, but also enough intensity to look for very rare decay of muons.

mu2e

This experiment  is aimed at looking for evidence of muon to electron transitions. In this case the muons are stopped in material and  any decay happens in the presence of the nucleus of the atoms.

We joined mu2e with the long term interest of lloking for evidence of mu to e transitions. IN the first instance Liverpool has provided a germanium detector  for the experiment,. In the loinger run we hope to be able to contribute to tracking and simulation.

Our effort on this experiment will be building over the next two to three years.
